About our Classroom

When you are joining us for a class we are happy to provide you with a well lit and comfortable work space – your own Horn Sewing Cabinet equipped with a Pfaff 2027  sewing machine, as well as a cutting mat.  You may also bring in your own machine (in good working order).  If you are using one of our Pfaff machines, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled class starts to get the machine ready and threaded.  You will need to bring (buy) your own Pfaff 2000 bobbin.  Please bring along all other quilting tools and accessories required for your class.

Electric Quilt Software Demo

Wondering how a computer can help your quilting? Tired of making templates with pencil and paper? Or maybe you’d like to design your own quilts or blocks with ease. Come to this demonstration of Electric Quilt Software (EQ6) and discover the possibilities.  EQ6, quilting design software, enables you to design your own blocks and quilts, and print templates and fabric yardage. Maybe you want to explore the interaction of two blocks that come in one of the block libraries; colour the blocks with one of the many fabric palettes in EQ6 or scan in your own fabric. Either way, you’ll see hundreds of possibilities of quilts in any size, or layout that you pick or design yourself.  Decided that 10” blocks should be 12”? No problem! Change the size in one place and you have a new quilt size, templates and yardage instantly.

This is a powerful quilt tool that can be used by the novice or advanced quilter. You choose the level and the software will grow with you as you learn more about quilting.  Join us for a couple of hours and see for yourself just what this software can do for you. Come enjoy the camaraderie and awaken your creativity. The demonstration will be followed by a discussion period.  (Note that this software was written for Windows operating systems.)

Quilter's Angel - the Protector of All Things Unfinished

Learn to recreate this adorable little quilt designed by Canadian Terry Morberg of pattern (plus my own suggestions). I have used scraps mostly from Kansas troubles and Thimbleberries to get the folky feel, but it would look great in pastels or country colours. A great project to use nickel squares. I am experimenting with several looks. The first class will cover the piecing parts – background, wings, little quilt. The second will cover the applique and finishing. This project is so much fun. It won’t remain unfinished!  An embellishment kit is included in the cost.

 .

Date: Thurs Jan 24 & 31

Time: 2-4PM or 7-9PM

Cost:$30 (includes embellishment kit) plus pattern
